Baby movement and shopping

Friday was the first day that I was almost positive that I was feeling some baby movement. I've been wondering since the beginning of last week actually. Friday morning when I woke up I flipped over on my stomach (enjoy that while it lasts, Shannon!) I must not have done that for awhile, because I noticed that it feels like I'm laying on top of a baseball. Weird feeling. So I'm laying there for a minute, and start to feel something. I decided to hold my breath and see if it was my heartbeat or something. Still felt it. Everyone says it feels like gas, but that's not quite it either. I guess that's the closest thing to it, but I wouldn't really say that describes it either.

I've noticed it quite a bit this weekend, and then again today at work. If this child turns out to be as active when she comes out as she has been this weekend and from what we've seen on the ultrasounds..... Oh boy. :)

In other news, I have garage sale fever. A gal at work told me I have to garage sale-ing for baby clothes once I know what I'm having, because you can find some fabulous things for very cheap. So I checked out one last Friday morning and went to a kind of city-wide type one at Kenwood Hall on Saturday. The one on Friday was all baby boy clothes, and the glider they were selling had just been sold right before I got there. Drat! I need a glider and footstool, and $20 would have been a steal. :( I had better luck on Saturday though. I walked away with a hooded bath robe, 2 onesies, 2 wooly footie sleepers, and a cute! purple sundress for $2 total. Yay me! I figure, yeah, we're not 100% sure baby is a girl, but if not, then I'm only out $2. The two dresses that I bought (one at Target, one at Babies-R-Us) are sitting with their receipts in the nursery, so they can be exchanged if need be.

Shopping for baby girl clothes is like crack.

17 weeks today! I hope my whole pregnancy continues to go as quickly as it has so far. It doesn't seem like I should be this far along yet. (I say "this far along" like I don't still have over halfway to go!)

Our ultrasound was last Monday. The tech was able to see all the parts very clearly except for the spine, because the baby was laying on it's back, instead of face down like (I guess) they usually do. What she could see of the spine looked good, as did everything else. Heart has four chambers and the heartbeat is strong. Bladder, kidneys and stomach all appear to be in working order. At this point, she wouldn't give us a definitive answer, so we have to go back in six weeks, but she thought that............

(So much for my intuition, eh?)

Luke made the comment later that evening that he won't be able to relax until the day she's married. Ha. He's going to be *that* dad, apparently. :)

She could still yet turn out to be a he, and the necessary parts were just not viewable in the ultrasound. Dr. Knox said that at this point she won't commit unless she sees an obvious penis, but we can pretty much count on a girl. And when we go at 22 weeks for the check, supposedly she's never been wrong. That better be the case, because how much would that suck to have a room full of pink and out pops a boy?

So even though it's not a definite for-sure thing yet, I'm going to find something pink and girly to buy tomorrow. And keep the receipt just in case....

Will post ultrasound pics and a new belly pic later. It's midnight, and I really shouldn't be up still. I made the mistake of taking a nap late this afternoon, and didn't wake up until almost 7:30. Ah well, it's Spring Break. I have nowhere to be tomorrow or Monday (Zane's at his mom's house) so it won't be that big of a deal if I'm a little off.
